The Wabash College Classics Department invites applications for an adjunct instructor to begin July 1, 2024. We are looking for someone who can expertly teach two courses over the 2024-2025 academic year, either two in the Fall 2024 semester or one each in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Our preference is that the courses (1) be pitched at the introductory level; (2) center on Greek and/or Roman civilization/culture; and (3) have a broad appeal to Wabash’s student body. Ph.D. preferred, but ABD candidates are encouraged to apply. Wabash College does not provide H-1B or other immigrant case sponsorship for short-term visiting positions.
In the midst of a strategic transformation to advance the success of first-generation students, students of color, and students from low-income families, Wabash College is committed to attracting and effectively supporting faculty from all backgrounds, including academically and culturally diverse faculty. More than 25% of our students are federal Pell Grant recipients, one-third of our students are first-generation college students, and about 20% of our students identify as domestic students of color. Wabash has been home to the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies for more than fifty years, is a member of the USC Race and Equity Center’s Liberal Arts Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance, is a top-60 Liberal Arts College according to U.S. News, and is a member of Colleges That Change Lives.
To apply, submit a cover letter (which describes one of the courses that you envision teaching), CV, email addresses for two persons who will submit confidential letters of recommendation electronically, and unofficial graduate transcripts through the link available at www.wabash.edu/employment. Questions regarding the position should be directed to Dr. Jeremy Hartnett, Chair of the Classics Department, hartnetj@wabash.edu. Application questions may be directed to Ms. Rachel Barclay, Academic Administrative Coordinator, barclayr@wabash.edu. We will begin reviewing applications on April 15, 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
