The Department of Classics at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level. This is a tenure-earning position that will begin in August 2026. We seek a specialist in Greek history and/or historiography with a focus in the Hellenistic period, broadly defined, and research interests that complement those of existing faculty. The 2/2 teaching assignment normally includes both undergraduate- and graduate-level teaching with at least one large undergraduate course with broad appeal to non-majors.

The Department of Classics at Florida State University is among the largest Classical Studies programs in the public university system and provides undergraduate students the intimacy of a small liberal arts college, while providing graduate students the resources and experience of a large R-1 university. We offer B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees, and host twice-yearly conferences of international scope in areas of faculty research. A doctoral degree from an accredited institution is required, as well as a developing record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service is required.
