The Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures (CMLL) at Mississippi State University is seeking excellent candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Classics.

CMLL is a large, dynamic, and growing department, and classics plays an important role in both the department and the College of Arts & Sciences. The classics major thrives, and a nascent MA program is being launched with face-to-face and online components.

The successful candidate will be a general classicist who has a record of teaching excellence, of professional presentations, and of scholarly publications with the promise of greater contributions to follow. Candidates should be able to teach all levels of Latin and Greek (undergraduate and graduate) and should have a demonstrable engagement with their students. Student advisement, institutional service at the departmental, college, and university levels, and community engagement are also expectations of great importance.
