Position Description:

The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a nine-month, full time, and tenure earning position in Classics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 7, 2024. We are seeking candidates whose research focuses on Greek literature and culture. Salary is negotiable.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Teach Greek and Latin language courses.

• Teach and develop undergraduate courses in Greco-Roman culture designed for broad student interest.

• Maintain an active research agenda that includes promise of a monograph and peer-reviewed publications.

• Work in connection with other departments to support graduate studies in fields related to Classics

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD in Classics or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be considered, but the degree must be conferred prior to the start date of August 7, 2024. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
