The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Classics to begin Fall 2024.
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
Specific required qualifications are:
- Ph.D. in Classics (or related discipline) in hand at the time of appointment
- Research expertise in Roman literature and culture
- A strong record or promise of scholarship
- The proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech
- Teaching experience in Classical Studies and the Latin language at the undergraduate and graduate level (teaching as a graduate student will satisfy this requirement)
- Demonstrated interest in service that will contribute to the growth of Texas Tech’s MA and BA programs.
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Research expertise in Roman religion
- Experience teaching and/or plans for course(s) in translation that would complement our current course offerings
