Bard College invites applications for a two-year full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics, to begin Fall 2024. We seek a classicist with a track record of energetic, engaged undergraduate teaching and a commitment to widening access and participation in the discipline. The successful candidate will teach Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels, courses in Greek and Roman literature, history, and civilization, and contribute to Bard’s first-year Humanities curriculum (https://fys.bard.edu)- specific course load will be discussed by the search committee. A record of successful language teaching, especially at the beginning level, is essential. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or be nearing its completion.
Compensation: $70,000-$75,000, dependent on experience
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
