The Department of Classics at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a one-year position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics. We seek a broadly trained colleague with the desire to contribute to a vibrant and forward-thinking Classics community. As colleagues committed to an inclusive face-to-face learning community of students and faculty, the Department works closely with students to facilitate and encourage success in all walks of life. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates from underrepresented groups, and from candidates who have interest and/or experience in working with diverse student and community populations.
A PhD in Classics in hand by the start of the appointment in August 2024 is preferred; we will also consider ABD candidates in Classics.
The position is full-time for one academic year (mid-August 2024 through the end of April 2025). Visiting faculty positions may be extended for two additional one-year appointments depending on departmental needs and faculty performance. Responsibilities of visiting faculty include a 4/4 teaching load of courses assigned based on department needs.
